Una entrevista con el sitio alemán NTower, el director de la franquicia Pokémon en Game Freak Junichi Masuda ha confirmado que aunque Pokémon X & Pokémon Y serán compatibles con Pokémon Rubí Omega & Pokémon Zafiro Alfa, no recibirán un parche en de software para las nuevas mega evoluciones o las formas primogenias de Groudon y Kyogre.[!--mas--]

Hace unos días en otra entrevista con GameSpot, Junichi Masuda, sugirió que tampoco habría una versión "Pokémon Z" de la serie.

Junichi Masuda Wrote:Por ejemplo, si despues de Pokémon Blanco & Pokémon Negro hubiéramos llegado apostado por Pokémon Gris, la gente hubiera esperado eso. Lo mismo pasa con Pokémon X/Y y apostar por un Pokémon Z. Siempre intentamos sorprender a los jugadores.

Algo posiblemente inesperado para algunos pero probablemente Nintendo Company no quiere extender el plazo de vida de una versión ya con un año de antigüedad cuando el mundo de los video juegos se mueve a velocidades sorprendente en una época en donde no podrá ser de otra forma. No hay tiempo que perder expandiendo generaciones por años.
